Extension of Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) scheme to Indian Origin persons of up to sixth generation in French overseas territory of Guadeloupe and Martinique

1. The Embassy of India, Paris, is glad to announce that the Government of India has accepted the long-pending demand of Persons of Indian Origin in French overseas territory of Guadeloupe and Martinique for registration as OCI Cardholders for descendants of up to the sixth generation of the original Indian immigrants who arrived in the Guadeloupe and Martinique from Indian territories.

2. The applications for OCI card will be accepted and granted based on merits of each case. Some of the acceptable documents as proof of Indian origin are Family Book (Livret de Famille) that traces ancestry, birth/death/marriage certificates of ancestors issued by local authorities and establishing their Indian origin together with family tree, or certificate issued by the local authority confirming Indian origin (of up to sixth generation). All documents are required to be apostilled before final submission. A family tree in English is required to be submitted.

3. It is requested that the applicants may first send by email the scanned copies of their documents, including its English translation, and family tree in English (before apostille) for necessary checks to Indian Embassy, Paris, at oci.paris@mea.gov.in with copy to cons.paris@mea.gov.in and mincons.paris@mea.gov.in. This will facilitate smooth processing of the applications. All other and general rules, regulations and procedures for OCI applications remain the same as envisaged in OCI official website www.ociservices.gov.in
