NOTICE

Subject: Introduction of Digital OCI Card (e-OCI) – Discontinuation of Printing of Physical OCI Cards

It is notified for the information of all concerned that the Government of India has launched the Digital OCI Card (e-OCI) with effect from 30 June 2026. Consequent to this, the printing of physical OCI Cards has been discontinued.

In view of the above, the following is brought to the notice of applicants and existing OCI cardholders:

1. All eligible applicants will henceforth receive their OCI Card in digital format only, i.e., e-OCI. Physical OCI cards will no longer be issued or printed.
2. Once the e-OCI is ready, applicants may download it by logging into the account on the OCI portal that was used at the time of applying for the OCI.
3. Existing holders of physical OCI cards can also download their e-OCI by logging into the OCI portal using the email ID that was used at the time of applying for their OCI card.
4. Physical OCI cards issued earlier will continue to remain valid and need not be surrendered.

All applicants and cardholders are advised to ensure that their registered email ID and contact details on the OCI portal are correct and up to date, to avoid any difficulty in accessing the e-OCI.
