ADVISORY on Driving in France

Following may be noted by Indian nationals for driving motor vehicles in France.
2. Holders of Indian driving licenses may drive for upto a maximum of one year with their licenses accompanied by an international driving license or an official translation. The translation must be legalized or apostilled if it is made in India. If the translation is done in France, it must be done by a qualified translator. Students can drive in France with their Indian driving licenses for the duration of their studies in France provided they have a valid residence permit.
3. To drive in France for more than one year, an individual is required to take the French driving license theory and practical tests. However, he/she may be exempt from the minimum number of driving hours, in accordance with the decree of 22 December 2009 by French Government if training for driving category B motor vehicles is obtained from an approved training establishment.
