VISA/OCI/PASSPORT/CONSULAR SERVICES

All the centres of M/S VFS Global, Embassy's outsourced service provider will be accepting applications for Visa (in the categories specified in the following paragraphs), OCI, Passport and Consular services.

OTHER CONSULAR SERVICES

The Embassy of India, Paris will continue to provide the following Consular services directly at the Consular Wing of the Embassy:-

  1. Attestation of Power of Attorney/Affidavit

  2. Affidavit of Celibacy (Bachelorhood certificate)

  3. Life Certificate

  4. Sworn Affidavit

  5. Transportation of mortal remains to India

  6. Transportation of Ashes to India

The following services will continue to be accepted ONLY at VFS:-

  1. Birth Certificate.

  2. Coutume certificate (Required by the Marie for marriage or for giving name to the new born child).

  3. Concordance certificate (issued to justify discrepancy between name on passport and Indian birth certificate.

  4. NRI certificate

  5. Legalization/attestation of civil documents/commercial documents or any other documents. These documents needs to be apostilled from the courd’appel if they are French documents and from the Indian Ministry of External Affairs in India if they are Indian documents.

VISA CATEGORIES ALLOWED FOR ENTRY INTO INDIA

All existing visas granted to foreigners except to those belonging to diplomatic, official, UN/ International organisations, employment, journalist (including dependent) and project categories shall remain suspended.

Currently the following categories of foreign nationals are being issued visa for India:-

  1. Foreign businessmen coming to India on a Business visa [other than on B-3 visa].

  1. Foreign Healthcare professionals, health researchers, engineers and technicians for technical work at Indian health sector facilities, including laboratories and factories. This is subject to a letter of invitation from a recognized and registered healthcare facility, registered pharmaceutical company or accredited University in India.

  1. Foreign Engineering, Managerial, Design or other Specialists travelling to India on behalf of foreign business entities located in India. This includes all manufacturing units, design units, software and IT units as well as financial sector companies (banking and non-banking financial sector firms).

  1. Foreign Technical specialists and engineers travelling for installation, repair and maintenance of foreign-origin machinery and equipment facilities in India, on the invitation of a registered Indian business entity. These could be for equipment installation, or is under warranty, or for after sales servicing or repair on commercial terms.

  1. Foreign nationals holding Journalist (J-1) visa and their dependents who are holding J-1X visa, if validity of their visa has expired

  1. Foreign nationals who are minor children where at least one of their parents is an Indian citizen or an OCI card holder.

  1. Foreign nationals married to Indian citizens.

  1. Foreign nationals who are single parents of minor children holding Indian passports or OCI cards.

  1. Students who are foreign nationals where at least one of their parents is an Indian citizen or an OCI card holder.

  1. Dependent family members of foreign diplomats and official/service passport holding service staff accredited to foreign diplomatic Missions, consular offices or accredited International Organizations in India

IMPORTANT NOTE

  • Foreign nationals covered in paragraphs mentioned above shall have to obtain a fresh visa in the appropriate category from the Embassy of India in Paris.

  • Foreign nationals having a valid long term (2-5 years) multiple entry visa of appropriate category issued by the Embassy of India in Paris shall also have to reapply for visa at the Embassy of India, Paris. In such case, no fee will be charged.

  • Foreign nationals will not be permitted to travel to India on the strength of any electronic visa (e-Tourist Visa/e-Business/ e-Medical Visa/ e-Medical Attendant/e-Conference) obtained earlier.

APPLICATION PROCESS

Foreign nationals who wish to apply may fill the emergency visa form and make an appointment with VFS Global through the following weblink:-

Applicants will have to provide the regular documents supporting their application as detailed in the VFS checklist. The application will also have to be supported with specific letters of invitation/mission from the company in France and the company registered in India mentioning details and exact purpose of visit, duration of stay and places proposed to be visited. The Embassy of India, Paris reserves the right to issue visa to applicants on the basis of merit and nature of business that requires them to visit India.

OVERSEAS CITIZEN OF INDIA (OCI)

It has now been decided to permit the following foreign nationals who are OCI card holders to enter India:-

  1. Minor children who hold OCI cards & whose parents are Indian nationals

  1. OCI card holders who wish to come to India on account of family emergencies like critical medical conditions of immediate family members or death.

  1. Married couples where one spouse is an OCI card holder and the other is an Indian national.

  1. Students who are OCI card holders where at least one of their parents is an Indian citizen or an OCI card holder.
